Often times you just want a little elopement with a few family members - but where do you have this? Not the courthouse - hmmm...
I tell couples to look to their local favorite restaurant - they may even have a little back room you can use. And generally this is cost effective solution as well.
Feel free to browse the locations on my site as well; /venues-and-pros.html
I recently came across this great post about rainy day must haves at http://rusticweddingchic.com/rainy-day-wedding-ideas-must-haves.
Let's face it, we live in Michigan, a state where the weather is unpredictable. The fact that it's December and 52 degrees outside - should give you a clue that even if you're hoping for a snowy filled winter wedding in December...it may end up feeling more like spring. Or if your planning August because it's most likely to be dry, remember it's also most likely to be over 100 degrees outside - Yikes!
I think that it's important to plan as though there will be rain, snow, sleet, clouds or anything other than amazing sunny and 72 degrees. If you love your back up plan then your day will be so less stressful!
Find a venue that offers an amazing indoor ceremony option as well as outdoor. So if it does rain, sleet or even reach degrees so very hot it's not safe for grandma to sit outside then you're A-OK with plan B.
The Captains Club in Grand Blanc offers an amazing outdoor location as well as a beautiful staircase inside that makes for a grand entrance or a cozy fireplace for the right season.
Pine Knob Mansion is beautiful indoors and out as well.
Oakhurst Golf in Clarkston has a lovely patio area as well as a indoor space that is lovely.
Indian Springs Metro Park offers great outdoor locations but their indoor space is unique and woodsy.
The options are out there, so when your venue shopping always ask o see the Plan B area - and plan to like it...just in case.
Here's hoping every wedding day is filled with nothing but sunshine and amazing weather!
